Darrell thoroughly enjoys helping financial advisors and insurance producers diversify, grow and retain their business by leveraging Financial Strategies Group’s partner assisted selling model. Darrell’s focus is to help provide creative and effective planning solutions for the needs of their clients in minimizing taxes, business continuity succession planning and wealth transfer while helping them build the life insurance component of their individual practices. Qualifications
Darrell’s diverse career background includes 28 years of channel sales/sales management in the technology industry, previous ownership of both a State Farm® agency (Laguna Beach, CA) and an Allstate® agency (Las Vegas, NV) where he was a Million Dollar Round Table® qualifier. Prior to joining Financial Strategies Group, he was the business development manager for MassMutual’s Workplace business for the Western US (2013-2017) and in a similar role for The Hartford (2008-2012). Licenses include FINRA Series 6/63, Life/Accident/Health, Annuity and P&C. Darrell has earned the Chartered Retirement Plan Specialist (CRPS®) designation from the College for Financial Planning. He prides himself in bringing a value-added team oriented philosophy to building successful partnerships.
Fun
A former college basketball player at UNLV, Darrell still plays basketball twice a week and particularly enjoys playing in the annual UNLV Basketball Alumni game and competing in National Senior Games Basketball tournaments. His Capo Classics 3×3 basketball team won or finished 2nd in the 2013- 2017 California 60’s Championships and represented California in the US National Senior Games Championships held in Minneapolis, MN in July 2015 and again in Birmingham, AL in June 2017. He also enjoys golf, surfing, is a novice birder and is crazy about his two female Whippet puppies. He stays fit using the P90X® exercise program. Although currently taking a break, Darrell has 23 years of service above self as a member of Rotary International® and he coached numerous youth sports teams when his kids were growing up. As an avid sports fan, Darrell is lucky to be married to Debbie who shares his passion for sports evidenced by their attendance at 8 of the last 9 NCAA Men’s Final Four Basketball Championships.
Family
Darrell lives with Debbie his wife of 38 years in Mission Viejo, CA 10 minutes from their oldest daughter in Lake Forest, CA and an hour from their son in Playa Vista, CA. They enjoy visiting and being visited by their other daughter in the Seattle, WA area. The Cavanaugh’s are intensely proud of their 3 children and 5 grandchildren.
